I have degrees in English, journalism and elementary education, and a minor in history. I once thought I wanted to be a teacher. HA HA HA. Not so much. I regret not majoring in library science. I know I should have been a librarian and I would've been a great one. Too late now. Too many student loans I'm already paying back, so I probably won't ever go back to school. I also harbor dreams of being a YA writer, but I'm too chicken to try!Daniellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07523282062825450228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323617352504981787.post-39143110867681845082010-04-21T08:34:09.602-04:002010-04-21T08:34:09.602-04:00nope, don't regret it at all. I learned a lot though :)Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04139311383034045644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323617352504981787.post-14989773150520444392010-04-20T16:26:27.761-04:002010-04-20T16:26:27.761-04:00Heather, I have a little less than two years to go...Heather, I have a little less than two years to go for this degree. I did look at changing it to English a few months ago, when I got seriously into the manuscript formatting thing; figuring authors might be more likely to hire someone with a more English-centered degree. But I decided changing schools and degree programs would set me back more than the potential gain. So, I'm plugging away (you saw my FB comment on Accounting 2, believe me, I'm busting out in hives too!), and hope that at least I'll be more marketable when this is done. The juggling isn't too bad right now, I only work part time, but some days it seems as if there aren't enough hours in the day.Shelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12763944794673350184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323617352504981787.post-2944966976752593152010-04-20T07:47:55.032-04:002010-04-20T07:47:55.032-04:00Katie, do you regret the first degree? I'm really surprised you didn't go the English route since you love books so much.

Shel, are you still in school? That's impressive, too! It has to be hard to balance everything. I can definitely see you as an English major, and you'd be a wonderful librarian. Maybe in a couple of years... :)Heather Webberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13620036387718208282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323617352504981787.post-34347082005528481132010-04-19T14:23:42.610-04:002010-04-19T14:23:42.610-04:00I did go back to school. But considering I did it ...I did go back to school. But considering I did it solely with a view to getting OUT of retail, I don't think it counts as getting to pick what I *wanted* to do. My major is in Human Resources Management. But if I was 10 years younger and doing it all over and it wasn't strictly a job related issue? Then probably an English major followed by a Master's in Library Science.Shelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12763944794673350184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323617352504981787.post-15483197264737879932010-04-19T11:34:34.297-04:002010-04-19T11:34:34.297-04:00I majored in sociology with a minor in math and if...I majored in sociology with a minor in math and if I went back to school, I would major in business administration.

We didn't go on college tours when I was graduating from high school.
