Hooray

About an hour ago I typed "The End" followed by a bunch of exclamation marks and a WOO HOO. The marks and the woo-ing will be deleted before the ms is sent to my editor, but have to be typed today for celebratory reasons.

I know this is only the beginning of a long week ahead. Now comes the hardest--but my favorite part--of writing. The rewrite. The final revisions that put the book together. That double-check plotlines and eye colors. It's the details I love, and this is the time to focus on them.

First up is a read-through on the computer to make changes. Then I'll print out the ms and use a red pen to edit. There's often a ton of changes I see on paper that my eyes skim over on the computer. Once that's done, I'll make the changes on the computer, then reread again. A lot of work but worth it.

Let's hope my editor thinks so too.
