Let There Be Light

Just when I think I'm doing a halfway decent job of lessening the impression of my carbon footprint, I take a good look around.

At all the lights on in the house.

Both kitchen lights, the living room lights, hallways, den, office (and this isn't counting upstairs).

This is going to be a hard habit to break for me. I love light. Especially on dark, cold winter mornings. As soon as I come downstairs, I start flipping switches. By the time the sun actually rises (if it's not cloudy, which is 95% of the time here in the winter), I kinda-sorta forget the lights are on.

Oops.

But from here on out I'm going to try my best to start turning off unnecessary lights. Hopefully this will be easier as summer approaches, but I'm still a little worried. Wish me luck...

  1. Sheer curtains. They let in plenty of light, while helping keep heat in the house.

  2. I love the look of sheers, Marissa. But I love the privacy of my mini blinds, too. LOL! The neighbors don't need to see everything!

  3. Trashcan fires would cover both your electrical and home heating needs.
