Pictures of the Day

I did manage to sneak away from the RWA conference to sight-see a bit with my roommates. It doesn't matter how many times I see these monuments, there's always such a feeling of awe when I stand next to them. Of course, couldn't get anywhere near the White House, not really. Go figure. But my friend Cathy and I couldn't help, as we dragged our tired, overheated, sore-footed selves toward the White House that Obama would happen by and offer us a ride... We are fiction writers after all.

The Washington Monument.

The Lincoln Memorial.

The White House.
I couldn't bring myself to take a picture at the Vietnam Memorial--just seemed to sacred. It, too, was one of those awe-inspiring moments.

  1. Those are the three sights that are a must when I go to DC for a visit. Just being at the Lincoln Memorial is awe-inspiring.

  2. LOL I can just imagine the surcharge you'd pay if Obama picked you up.

  3. Dru, I do love the monuments, but the mall is a mess, not at all awe-inspiring.

LOL, Melissa. The taxis were bad enough. :)

  4. I lived in DC for 13 years. I have taken photographs of everything there, except the Vietnam Memorial. I completely understand what you are saying. DC continues to be one of my most favorite places and I miss it, every single day.

    Cheers,
