Dreaming

Do you ever wonder why we dream what we dream?

I had the strangest dreams last night, though I'm really struggling to remember exactly what they were about. I just recall that they were weird and that I had a lot of them.

Thankfully, I didn't have any *bad* dreams. I've been having those more and more lately, and those ones I seem to remember just fine.

I wonder why that is. And I wonder if maybe I shouldn't eat chocolate cake before bed anymore...

  1. I am super superstitious and yes!~ you shouldn't eat before bed because you will have dreams. BUT sometimes I can't resist chocolate cake!

  2. I'm thinking chocolate is the culprit.

I have more of the deja vu dreams - where what was happening now, I remember from my dreams.

  3. Maybe the chocolate is my problem. I have strange dreams pretty much every night. Scary dreams at times too, where I wake up yelling or screaming. Very startling for my poor husband. Luckily, that does not happen all that often, but I always have bizarre dreams.

  4. I go through cycles of active, vivid dreams - moving through one now, in fact. No nightmares or anything scary, but always crazy. I'm usually aware that I'm dreaming, and can remember whole chunks of them, though the scenes may be all jumbled up. And no matter how many hours of sleep I manage during these cycles, they leave me completely drained. It's always been this way for me, and I've also dreamed entire conversations or events that later happened exactly as I dreamed them.

  5. It must be the chocolate! I had strange dreams last night, too, and I ate enough chocolate to last me a year a couple of hours before bed.

The deja vu dreams are always a little freaky, but I'll take those over waking up screaming--yikes, Linda!

  6. Okay...so last nights dream was like the movie "Alien", and I was the lead the character. I was with some people in some big warehouse and the aliens were of course, in the warehouse with us. And we were running , and trying to barricade ourselves, and stocking up on supplies. Goodness.....no wonder I'm tired this morning! The "Alien" movies don't scare me at all, so at least I didn't wake up screaming. :)

  7. Wow, Linda - and I thought my dreams were bizarre last night. And I had an endless series of them. Some scenes I could tell were influenced by the book I was reading (The Botticelli Secret, historical fiction), and some...anyone's guess what produced them. Sadly, it was not chocolate, as I had not had any since early afternoon and went to bed waaaay too late last night.

Here's to a more restful night for all!
