Gone Hiking...And Shopping...And Kayaking...and Swimming...

If you can't tell--I'm on vacation!

And loving it.

We're in northern Vermont, surrounded by the beautiful Green Mountains. On Sunday we hiked Mt. Philo, near Burlington. From the summit, you can see Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks to the west, and the Green Mountains to the east. So, so pretty. We then watched a fantastic fireworks display, and re-celebrated son #2's b-day (we had a family party before we left on vacation but his actual b-day is the 4th).

On Monday, my husband and son # 2 took a road trip to hike Mt. Washington in N.H. My daughter and I opted out of that hike! Instead, we went shopping in Stowe Village (so cute), hung out by the hotel pool, played some tennis, read our books (I was reading Leann Sweeney's Pick Your Poison, which was very good).

Yesterday we went to Waterbury Reservoir and kayaked and canoe'd (like how I made those verbs?). Kayaking is a blast, canoeing is a lot of work. We then took our sunburned selves over to the Ben & Jerry's factory for a little treat.

Today is more hiking, and then we're planning to see Toy Story 3. I can't wait to see this movie! It's been hot here--low 90s, which is great for splashing in the pool and playing on kayaks, but not so good for hiking. We have managed to have a fire going in our room every night, though, despite the heat outside. It's amazing how low the air conditioners will go.

I should be home on Friday and will be back to my normal blogging schedule next week. Oh, and Mr. Webber has been taking plenty of pictures....

  1. ::::waving hi::::

    I'm glad you're enjoying your vacation and I replied to your note before I saw your blog so my guess was correct as to where you were hanging out.

    I'm dying to see Toy Story 3. I better go before it's not shown.

    Have a great vacation.

  6. Another great day--long hike up Mt. Elmore (struggled on the way up, but the way down was really nice *g*). Just got back from Toy Story 3--totally got teary. Love those movies.

    Long drive home tomorrow...

    Oh, and thanks, Elie! I've seen a couple and so far (knock wood) all have been favorable. It's a different kind of book, that's for sure...
