Evil in a Cutie Pie Disguise

The kids and I have been working on a puzzle. It's an adorable puzzle. Penguins. Just look.

So cute, right?

Wrong.

Evil.

I worked on it for an hour yesterday and found three pieces. Three. (Evil.)

There are two big problems. One is that there are a lot of similarly colored pieces. There's no eying a piece to see if it's the right one (evil). And then there's the fact that a lot of pieces *almost* fit together. I spend a lot of time sitting there thinking Does this fit? Is that the right piece? Usually, if I'm thinking it, it's not. But it's sooooo close. It really *wants* to fit. It just doesn't quite. (Evil.)

Thankfully, just when I'm getting frustrated, the kids pop in and take over. Tag-teaming is the way to go with this puzzle. The thing with me is that I have a bit of an obsessive personality, so I will keep at it, until every baby penguin is filled in--really, aren't they just so adorable??? Here's the puzzle so far.

We're getting there...

  1. But all your pieces are laid out in nice neat rows. How do you build a puzzle with all the pieces laid out in nice neat rows? When we build puzzles all the pieces are jumbled up in a pile - maybe spread out to a single layer, hopefully most of them turned right side up - but nice neat rows? Wow.

  2. I *have* to do nice neat rows, Linda. Sometimes I'll go up and down those rows until I find the right piece (two hours later). It's the Virgo in me. LOL.

  3. I hear you, Heather. I'm a Virgo, too.

  4. You are brave, Heather. I would be ready to kill some real baby penguins after working on that for an hour.

Patience is not a virtue that I possess.

  5. I love puzzles, but that one would get the best of me! And Heather, I've never, ever seen rows like that. No wonder you're such a good editor!

You really do make me smile.
Now, go forth and get another three pieces done!

  6. That is a cute puzzle, but I can see that it would be impossible for me. I enjoy doing puzzles and haven't done one in a while. Now I'll have to give one a try.

  7. I love that you line up your pieces. I use to do that and people would look at me funny.

  8. I'm not a big fan of puzzles, they frustrate me to much & I don't have the patience for them. However, this one is sooooo cute!!! I hope you'll post a picture of the finished product!

    Have fun!
