The Happy New Year

I took a look back to see what my resolutions were for last year--and to see how I'd done with them. Let's just say not so good. LOL.

1) I will write more.

I did this! Hooray! I wrote tons last year, and plan to write tons this year. Feeling rather proud of myself. Smug, even.

2) I will find the time or make the time to READ more. And I also want to keep track of the books I read this year.

Well, there goes my smugness. Didn't read much at all. Which is just plain sad. And keeping track? That lasted about a month or so.

3) I will respond in a timely manner to emails. At least within 24 hours.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Next.

4) Go to the dentist.

I did this!!! So proud again. And, no cavities, thankyouverymuch.

5) Exercise more regularly.

Nope. Not even a little bit. Bad, bad, bad. There goes my pride again.

So, overall, 2 out of 5. That's not so good. Yet, I'm forever an optimist, so here are this year's resolutions:

1) Be more organized.
2) Limit exclamation points.

I have to confess, I've already blown the second one. It'll be baby steps with that resolution. I have a big fondness for that particular punctuation.

I'm going to also add:

3) Read more books.

Yesterday, I read Following Atticus, a non-fiction book I very much enjoyed so I'm already on a roll. Just need to keep it up this time!. (caught myself)

4) Exercise more.

This probably means evicting the dust bunnies from the treadmill. They're not gonna be happy. Nothing worse than a ticked-off dust bunny.

I do love a New Year, and all the possibilities. I have a bad habit of standing in my own way lots of times, but hopefully not this year. Wish me luck with those dust bunnies...I'm kind of terrified of them.

  3. Wow! What great resolution! For me the punctuation no-no is...you know...those three little dots... oh, yeah, elipses.

And unburying the treadmill is on my list too so you can send your dust bunnies over to play with mine.

  4. Happy New Year, Heather! Good luck with your resolutions. I also have an affinity for exclamation points and...ellipses. The idea of giving either up is quite painful. ;)

A big congratulations on the release of It Takes A Witch tomorrow!

  5. Happy New Year Heather! As for resolutions, I don't even remember what mine were last year. Probably the usual....eat better, exercise more. I'll try for that again this year. I did just go to the store and bought some fruits and a few veggies, so I'm off to a good start. Good luck with your resolutions. I'm glad you stuck wiht the writing one last year, as I truly enjoy all your books!

  6. Linda (LD), I love ellipses, too. Not sure I could give them up. :)

And I'm not sure we want our dust bunnies co-mingling. They might multiply. Gasp.

Thanks, Kristin! I have a feeling I'm doomed with the exclamation point resolution. Might not even last a week. I've cut back--no multiple exclamation points today--but who knows how long that will last.

Linda, eating right and exercising are always good resolutions. Thankfully, we usually have a very healthy diet, but I stink at exercise. Must do better with that.
Happy New Year to you, too!
