Pictures of the Day

I originally posted these on Facebook during the Christmas break, documenting Baby Girl's progress, but I also wanted to post them here. Mainly because I like looking at them. :)

Baby Girl had an art class assignment to replicate an image from a movie using charcoals. Baby Girl chose one of her favorite scenes from Star Wars:

Do you think she can teach me how to draw like that?

  5. Thanks, everyone! She's sure does love art, so "assignments" like this don't feel like schoolwork at all. In fact this morning she said, "I wish I could stay in art class all day." And I said, "I think that says something about what you might want to do with your future." Then she just nodded. We'll see. She has a while before she has to make any choices (she's a junior in high school right now).

  6. I showed this to several friends when you posted the pics on FB. She is so talented. I think she'll go far if she pursues art as a career. However, she definitely has to follow her heart in what she wants to do. If it's not what you love, then - no matter how profitable - it will just be a job. I got a temporary job when I was young, just until I decided exactly what path I wanted to take - and I retired after 35 years at the same place without ever taking any of those paths (did well financially, but it was always just something I had to do). I'm glad she at least has some options (if I recall correctly, doesn't she also enjoy languages?) and with the way you are involved in your kids' lives, I'm sure she will have help pursuing her dreams, whatever path that takes. I wish her all the best.

  8. Maybe she can get a job doing some of your cover art. Very nice. Plus I loved that movie.

  9. Boy does your daughter have serious talent. Thank you for sharing with us. Was she totally thrilled to get the Star Wars DVDs for Christmas? Did you share with her the story you shared with us on the Cozy Chicks blog about searching high and low and finally nabbing them on eBay?
