The Pinterest

Okay, I've been hearing a lot about Pinterest lately. But I really don't know what it is. At first glance, it looks like something that can suck me in for days on end. Which, LOL, isn't necessarily a bad thing. You know how I like to procrastinate.

What do you think? To join or not to join?

Btw, I did see this picture on Pinterest, so there's already a point in its favor. You also know how I feel about OTTERS! Love. Big love. Huge.

  1. I don't get it really either. I did join but will probably have my 13 year old son figure it out for me. I also LOVE otters and will try to find this pic for mine!.

  2. Well, I have no idea what you are talking about but since you love otters so much, why don't you move over here to the Monterey Bay Area, we have TONS of sea otters *cough that way I can sneak into your house and read all the good stuff you haven't published yet cough* :)

  3. I've been using it for a few weeks. It avoided it throughout school when friends were telling me about it, as they described it as a huge time suck. However, I have found some great new recipes (main reason I scour the site) that I've loved and its given me ideas of how to help the kids with their school stuff.

  4. Oh my goodness, those otters are adorable! AND, you shaved two minutes off your dead tread time?! That's shaving like 8% off your time! Keep it up, girl! Seriously consider resisting Pinterest despite the insanely sweet otters. If you have trouble procrastinating or getting distracted, it might not be a great move for you. Seriously. BUT if you do hop on the bandwagon, be sure to tell us so we can check out your "pins". I don't do it, but periodically visit my sister's page. I can see how it could be fun and a cool way to mark ideas one wants to revisit later, but also see what a time sucker it would be. Tht's why I avoid it...and well, most other tech/social media tools.

  5. Melinda, LOL--love that our kids need to teach us these things.

Azucena, I saw a special on Monterrey Bay otters once. Made me want to move there! And LOL on the unpubbed stuff. There's not much of that hanging around. :)

Katie, the recipes are definitely intriguing. I can see doing book pages, too, with different pics for each book (kind of like collaging). I just don't know if I want to put the time in it.

Kristin--me, procrastinate? What??? Crazy talk. ;) But exactly why I'm hesitating. I have a deadline on March 1st. Don't need any new distractions. BUT, after March 1st...fair game.

  6. Imagine a big cork bulletin board where you pin up all the recipes you wanna try, books you wanna read, pictures you love, places you wanna see, products you want to research, activities for your kids, ideas for a friend's baby/bridal shower. Now imagine a different bulletin board for each category. Now imagine it online in one handy place and your "Favorites" folder on your internet browser shrinking. And then your friends share what's on their bulletin boards and youre like, "hey! Good idea!" THAT is pinterest. And it's amazing. Join!
