Last week, I met a couple of new people who, when they learned I was a writer asked, "Do you write children's books?"
I get this a lot. I'm not sure why. Do people assume all writers are children's book writers? Or do I have an innocent look about me that automatically makes people think kids' books (which, by the way, IMO are the hardest books to write)?
I'm not sure. But I do love the stunned look on their faces when I say, "No, I kill people." Loooong pause. "I'm a mystery writer."
Ha! It's the little things in my life that make me happy.
That is funny. I want to say, do you suppose they assume children's books because that was the last kind of book they read, but that wouldn't be very nice, would it? :) I have never outgrown children's books. It works out good with little ones at home. i am especially a sucker for holiday and seasonal books.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if something might be wrong with your site. It comes up on my iPad (grin), but not my pc.
Kristin, I love kids' books, too. I have a whole shelf of them in the family room. They bring back great memories.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what's wrong with this site. Maybe something is going on with Blogger? I don't think it's anything I can control. Eek.
