The New Neighbors

Aren't they so cute?

He's all like, "I see you watching me."

They're cute neighbors but messy. Just watch where you step, okay?

Streeeeeeeeetch.

We call him Aflac. We're clever like that.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what kind of duck this is.
When we first moved in we soon came across a family of six baby ducks and their mama. Over the past month and a half we've watched all the babies grow up, and just yesterday, the mama left them to their own devices (but was still keeping an eye on them). It's been amazing to see their transformation, and I'm so happy they all made it through their childhood. Pretty soon we won't even be able to tell them apart from the other ducks--which makes me kind of sad (hello, I'm a sap!), but it really makes me look forward to spring when there will be a ton of babies around. Seriously, is there anything much cuter than a baby duck?

  1. That last duck is a black one with a white spot on it's chest.

    You're welcome.

  2. I love your new neighbors and the way you share your life story. Had quite a laugh with the knockovers and #2 son running. Don't know how you get almost everything done (little humor) and write as well. Cudo's to you.

    1. There are some around but none close enough to the house to leave carrots for them. We're hoping to start luring them closer. Hopefully, nothing else (like skunks!) will be lured in as well. We do miss our bunnies.
