Blessed

I completely embrace my weirdness. I remember when I had the idea for the Lucy Valentine series and started talking about it. "It's about a woman who is psychic and she's a matchmaker, too. And solves crimes..." At the strange looks, I'd add, "It's better than it sounds." LOL.

I believed in the idea...and my weird self. And I'm so grateful readers trusted me enough to give the stories a chance. :)

Think

I'm plotting this morning.

This sums up how well it's going.

Send good plotting vibes! I need them.

Breakfast

We take our cereal consumption very seriously around here. Especially when Son #2 is home. Cereal is his favorite food group.

I think we should start buying stock in General Mills...

Happy

It's been almost two months since UNDENIABLY YOURS came out, and great reviews are still coming in (whew & hurrah!). Thanks so much, Cozy Mystery Book Reviews  (bookmark this awesome site!) for your lovely review.

"Undeniably Yours was another enjoyable adventure in this series. I hope there will be more Lucy adventures for her readers, as this series is undeniably delightful!"

If you take a listen, let me know how you like it. :)

Tattoo?

Recently, UNDENIABLY YOURS, the most recent Lucy Valentine novel, was featured on a TV segment in Utah, thanks to the lovely Alicia Cunningham. It was so cool to see the book on TV, but Alicia's kind words pushed the happy factor over the top. She called my books "Perfection in paperback."

I personally think that's tattoo worthy.

Okay, since I'm not a tattoo person, maybe I'll have a sign made. A banner for my office?

Okay, since I'm not really a banner kind of person, either, I'll probably just bookmark the page and check in every once in a while. :)

Hop over and take a peek at the segment. Alicia has lots of great recommendations (not just mine!).

Big Day

It's a big day around here.

Exactly twenty-five years ago Mr. W and I went on our first date. I was sixteen and he was seventeen. We've been together ever since.

Exactly one year ago we moved into our new house. We absolutely love it here and are so glad that we made the leap.

And today, we're taking Baby Girl back to college to start her sophomore year. I will definitely miss her like crazy, but it's wonderful to see her fly.

I think it's a day that calls for cake. Or pie. Or both.

Aww

Who can resist that face? Of course now I want a lamb.

My birthday is coming up. Do you think Mr. W will get me a little lamb? (What the HOA doesn't know won't hurt them, right?)

Truth

Especially on a Monday.

Especially on this Monday. I'm up extra early because we're taking Son #2 back to college today.

I might need three cups of coffee.

Or four.

And a tissue. Something in my eye...

Mismatched

Here's a pic of our new neighbors. Adorable.

Anyone else singing "one of these things is not like the other?"

Thursday Throwback

Not a throwback picture but an old blog.

*Originally posted on The Cozy Chicks 9-21-13*

So there I was sitting on the deck, peacefully minding my own business and drinking my coffee. The morning was chilly while sunbeams tried to poke through thick haze. I was cozy warm from being wrapped in my robe and the heat of the coffee.

Birds chattered. Squirrels bounced from tree to tree. Geese squawked as they flew overhead. The sound of water burbled in the distance.
The scene of the crime.

Mr. W and I talked about how peaceful it was being surrounded by nature, and how glad we were that we had taken a big leap of faith to move here.

Then it happened.

Nature attacked.

Something landed on my neck.

Gone was that peaceful feeling as I Freaked Out, trying to swat whatever it was away, forgetting all about the coffee in my hand, which now covered my white robe and a good portion of the deck.

I could barely register Mr. W’s words – something about a tree.

Oh. Wait.

It had been just a leaf, fluttering down, that happened to land on me.

Perhaps I needn't have freaked out quite so much, after all. Huh. Live and learn and don’t cry over spilled coffee, right? (Except it was really good coffee.)

We had quite the laugh over it, but secretly I think that if it happens again...I’d react the same way. Don’t tell, okay, but sometimes the nature I love so much freaks me out. Especially when it attacks.

Have you had a harmless encounter with nature lately?

Beauteous

Had to stop on my walk and snap a picture of these gorgeous hydrangeas. Sometimes nature is just so darn beautiful.

Run!

This is absolutely true.

My favorite ice cream truck offering as a kid was the Screwball. Remember those? Orange sherbet with the gumball at the very bottom? It had to be eaten with the little wooden spoon, too, or it just wasn't as good.

Apparently Screwballs are sold in stores now. With cherry, raspberry, and stawberry flavors (apparently orange isn't made anymore-boo!), but in my world, I only love them from the ice cream truck...

Runners up for best ice cream truck novelty: snowcones, the Creamsicle, and the BombPop. Oh, who am I kidding? I love just about everything on the menu.

Do you have a favorite?

Familiar

When Mr. W and I were on our walk the other day, we spotted this.

So much pretty!

It looked kind of familiar to me. Oh yeah, that's right. My license plate (which, by the way, was made at the local penitentiary--who knew inmates actually made license plates)!

Okay, not a perfect match. But close, right?
