Slacking & Packing

My burst of creative energy I had right after vacation seems to have, well, burst. I should know better than to try and write during the summer... It just doesn't work well for me. One of these years I'll learn!

I'm packing for my trip to California. I'll be visiting family in Santa Barbara for a few days, then hopping a train for San Francisco for the RWA national conference. I'll be gone Sunday to Sunday, and unless a roomie has a laptop, I'll be without Internet (sob) for a whole week. Although my oldest son will be with me part of the trip (he's staying in SB), I'm having a hard time accepting leaving everyone else behind... Oh, they'll be fine without me, but I'm not sure about the other way around!

I'm trying to pack light, and it's a losing battle. For some reason I HAVE to bring five pairs of shoes. WHY????? I think it may be a sickness. I need help. ASAP. And I have to factor all the books I'll be bringing home into my luggage planning. Did you know at the conference that major publishers host "open houses" where you go in, meet authors, and get as many books (signed) as your little arms can carry? And it's all FREE (you do have to be registered for the conference). FREE! It's heaven. It really is. Well, until you have to get all those books home. If anyone reading this is going, I'll be signing the hot-off-the-presses Weeding out Trouble Friday morning for the Avon open house...

I'm just hoping that by the time I get back, I'll have another little burst to see me through fall. Not too much to ask, is it?
