Crushing

Stayed up way past my bedtime last night to watch the Olympics. Specifically, the gymnastics's women's team final.

We all know how that turned out.

The thing is, I went to bed feeling so badly for Alicia Sacramone. I can only imagine what she's going through. And really, honestly, if all the Americans had flipped, tumbled, and landed with perfection we don't know that it was enough to win. China was that good.

I imagine in some circles there's a lot of blame going around today. But I simply feel sorry for athletes who put incredible pressure on themselves to compete flawlessly...and then don't. It's a hard place, mentally, to live.

I also felt terrible for Rangers' pitcher Scott Feldman last night. He gave up ten runs in the first inning to the Boston Red Sox. Yeah, it was nice to be winning (which was in question for a while around the 8th inning), but at some point those kind of numbers tug at my compassion.

And yeah. I'm obviously a big sap.

  2. Just found your blogsite and cozychicks.com when I was googling,"What's a good schedule for writing?" Couldn't help but say HEY to a fellow Buckeye.
Alicia Sacramone is a little heartbreaker. Step away from the TV and any replay of gymnastics from Sunday night.

  3. Distracted, thanks for stopping by.

I think I need to stop watching all the gymnastics coverage. Seems to my untrained eye, there is judging bias. It's makin' me cranky. :)
