Cookies

It's no wonder my favorite character on Sesame Street was Cookie Monster. I love cookies. Almost all kinds, but mostly chocolate chip and sugar cookies.

And wouldn't you know it, that's exactly what we're (my daughter and I) baking this week. The sugar cookies, especially, are tradition around here this time of year. Rolling the dough, cutting the shapes, decorating with vanilla frosting and sprinkles and colored sugar. The kitchen is usually such a mess by the time we're done but it's so very worth it.

Do you have a favorite cookie?

  1. We make a cookie we call a "Tea Cake Cookie." It never comes out the same shape no matter if you're using the same cutter over and over, but it's good no matter how it looks.

    Tea Cakes
    2 Cups of Sugar
    2 Eggs
    ½ Cup of Crisco
    1 Tablespoon of Milk
    1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Flavoring
    2 ¼ Cups of Flour

Beat sugar, eggs and Crisco together. Then add milk, vanilla flavoring and flour. Mix together well. Mixture needs to be refrigerated for an hour. Then take mixture and roll out and cut out using flour to keep from sticking. Bake at 375 degrees on a barely greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

  2. Whatever kind you send to me, I'll eat.

    No nuts.

  3. I'd say any cookie that's predominately chocolate is my favorite.

And although I don't care to eat them, I ADORE gingerbread men. I think they are the cutest things ever and find myself collecting anything I see gingerbread man-related this year.

  4. I'm baking sugar, peanut butter, double chocolate, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies this week. I love them all, but my favorite is the oatmeal chocolate chip. Yummy! Oh, I love snickerdoodles too.
    Enjoy your baking!

  5. Chocolate chip is my favorite cookies and since I don't bake, I have to rely on others to make me a batch of home-made cookies unless I go the Pillsbury route.
