Bits and Pieces

* We have a beloved family friend, a priest, who once gave us several pieces of great advice. Two of which were to never complain about food, because you should be lucky to have any at all, and to never complain about the weather, because you can't change it. I have to admit, I'm not so good with the weather you all know because I'm SO ready for spring. But today, especially, the weather is on my mind. Why? Because I have a launch signing for TRULY, MADLY on Saturday and this area is expecting 3-6" of snow Friday night. What's a girl to do? Well, as the good Father imparted, I can't change the weather. So... I'm going to try my best not to stress. It is what it is, right? I'm hoping that any of the people I invited locally will either brave the conditions (anyone with a 4x4 who wants to give me a ride?) or show up at the group signing I'm doing the following Saturday, same store, same time and comes with the added bonus of also being able to meet tons of other local authors who have fabulous books.

Upcoming signings:

Snowy Book Launch:

1-3 PM
Barnes & Noble, Streets of West Chester
West Chester, OH 45069

Group Signing (Hopefully not snowy!)

There's chocolate involved. Lots of chocolate.

* There is a cover art meeting today for Absolutely, Positively. I cannot wait to see what the art department comes up with. As soon as I get a rendering, I'll share. Promise.

* There has been a sighting of Truly, Madly on a grocery store book shelf. This is the first time one of my books has made the leap into grocery stores, so this makes me crazy happy. Thank you to the wonderful Lorna Barrett for letting me know--and for buying a copy--and to Wegmans, too!

*The final book giveaway will be next week, so check back then. The people at the post office are getting to know me really well.

* I inherited a coffee press. So far I've been too intimidated to use it, but I'm thinking this day is going to require lots of caffeine, so I might give it a try this afternoon. Any tips?

*Oh my gosh. Can I just say how much I love the Control + Z feature??? I just went to copy this post to paste it in Blogger and hit the wrong button and poof it was gone in a blink (*cries*), but then I remembered Ctrl + Z, which is an undo feature, and voila, here it is again (*cries*). Whew.

  1. First the coffee press. (Coffee always comes first). I have one I bought after reading Cleo Coyle's "French Press." After reading her instructions, I tried and love it. So my recommendation, give a shout out to Cleo about the press. She's the best.

As for the weather. Now I don't feel so bad about what we're suppose to get today - 1 to 2 inches of rain (again). So far I haven't heard them say the "s" word yet for here. Hopefully you won't get as much as predicted and things will go smoothly with the signing. If not, I'm sure your readers will be thrilled that they'll have another chance to next weekend.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Now go try your french press.

  2. I find it funny that you are worried about driving in snow. Didn't you grow up driving in snow? I know I did. Granted I haven't had to do it for years (thank you FL, TX and WA), but can't call yourself a New Englander if you don't get out there and do a donut or two!

As for the coffee press, do it! After pouring the water in over the grinds, place the stopper on it, but let it steep for 3-5 minutes before pressing down. Then Enjoy a wonderful cup of coffee. It also works with tea and mate if you use loose leaf.

  3. if I didn't have to be at the psych hospital Saturday, I would have dragged the kids up to see you. alas...

coffee = nasty, so no coffee press suggestions from me.

  4. No coffee suggestions from me.

I hope it doesn't snow or if it does, it's only an inch or two.

  5. I hope your book signing isn't snowed on and if it is can you send some here . . . lots of it.
Today it is 54F, sunny and warm and the Winter Olympics start next week. Only problem is we have no winter. It got cold briefly back in November but since then lots of warm.

I love my french press, had the same Bodum for 30 years. Love it!

  6. Mason, I didn't get a chance to use the press today--maybe tomorrow. And don't you love Cleo's books? They're great! I hear the mid Atlantic states are expecting up to two feet??? I'll take the 3-6"!

Amy, I know, I know! Being in Ohio for so long has softened me. I get freaked out now. I blame the ice. I don't remember MA having much ice... Maybe I blocked it out. Thanks for the tea tip!

  7. Hi Dru, I wish I could send the snow your way! Will you get any of the snow coming up the coast? Seems like it's a doozy.

Gaylin, the weather has been crazy this year, hasn't it? I'm looking forward to the Olympics and hope you all get a freak snowstorm soon. Who'd have thought???

  8. I'd have loved to see you and the kids, Katie! How do you like the psych rotation? I'd think it would be really sad... How long are you there?

  9. Heather keeping fingers crossed you won't get all that snow. Our weather guy keeps saying it's going to just miss us. I told Hubby make sure you have gas in the snow thrower cause they probably got it wrong.

  10. one of these days I'll drag them up your way.

I'm done the end of this month, then in March I start another rotation doing general medical-surgical stuff but that will be Friday nights.

I actually don't mind the psych. some of it is extremely sad.

  11. Panda girl, don't they always get it wrong? I'm hoping they're wrong here--they've bumped up estimates to 4-8"!

Katie, I'd love to do the general medical rotation. I swear if this writing thing didn't work out, I'd be in nursing school with you!

  12. Book sighting in Bellingham, WA! I saw Truly, Madly today at my local grocery store - Haggen Food and Pharmacy! Yippee! Have there been other sightings?

  13. Woo-hoo, Kristin! Thank you for letting me know. I've heard that it's been in Kroger (thanks, Mason!) and a Walmart in Texas... I love all these sightings. So fun.

  14. I picked up Truly Madly at Meijer's grocery store today! The cover is what caught my eye, Awsome cover art! After reading the description on the back there was no way I was leaving without it!
