Sweet Tooth

Sometimes being an author is such a hard job. Last night I had an event at a library--Romance into Spring with Flowers and Chocolate at Waynesville's (OH) Mary L. Cook library.

For the first half of the program, a panel of six authors (me included) gave a little talk, answered questions; then the second half was with the Flowerman, who made some amazing flower arrangements (and sent everyone home with a tulip!). But while Flowerman was doing his thing, the six of us authors were judging the chocolate contest.

Yes, a chocolate contest. There were twenty entries ranging from bon bons and toffee (really good!) to fudge cake and chocolate cheesecakes.

Now, as most of you know, I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but even I can get excited by a table covered in chocolate.

Here are the winning entries (taken from my cell phone, so ignore the quality!):

First place:

Second Place:

Third Place:

Though I'd like to think the big crowd was there to see the six of us or even the Floweman, but I know better.

They were there for the chocolate.

Can you blame them?

  1. Now that's my kind of contest. The entries all look so yummy. And a tulip to take home. Wow. Wish my library had events like this.

  2. They all look good and were you give samples to taste?

My library never have fun events :(

    Have a good Tuesday.

  3. They all look yummy, though the 1st place one looks the most yummy to me. But, I'm supposed to lay off the chocolate a bit, to see if it does anything to stop my crazy dreams. Still, one little piece would not make much of a difference, right?

  4. I have to confess that for ME, there is such a thing as too much chocolate. By entry 18 or 19, I was ready to pass my fork! As soon as the judging is over, they open the room to the public and everyone gets to taste. You should have seen some of the plates laden with chocolate. LOL!

This library also has a pie contest in the fall...lots of goodies there too.

And Linda, put the chocolate away! Or eat it really early in the morning!

  6. I would've come for you, BUT I definitely would've had a piece of cake too! The cake is a bonus to seeing all the great authors.

  8. Did you say you're NOT a huge chocolate fan? What's wrong with you?! My son is not either, and I'm constantly taking his temperature!!!

Ha, hard work, but someone's gotta do it.
