Before I Was a Writer

Yesterday, the goddesses at the Naked Hero started their Wednesday writing prompts. I thought it would be fun to play along. This week’s prompt:

Before I was a writer…

1) I never planned for a career in writing.
2) I was a stay at home mom of three, ages five and under.
3) I never had to write a synopsis (ah, the good old days).
4) I never traveled by myself.
5) I never knew the joy of a fan letter.
6) I always planned to go back to school to be a nurse.
7) I loved reading—mostly romance and mystery (go figure).
8) I never realized what a great, supportive community writers are.
9) I thought a book could be published in a couple of months. (ha!)
10) I never knew how happy walking into a book store and seeing my book on a shelf would make me.

Okay, that was kind of fun. I wonder what next week’s prompt will be…

  1. Now that I've met and now am friends with some writers, I never knew the smile that would come across my face when I saw their books on the shelves of bookstores.

All I want to do is buy up the whole lot and give them out to everyone so they have experience the joy I have in reading my friends' books.

  2. Love your list. It's always fun to learn more about your favorite authors. :) I'm with Dru, I love seeing the books of friends I've made online in bookstores. Can't help but smile.

  5. Cool post, Heather!!

I have another totally off topic item that relates to your post about West Side Story. After watching "Dear John" last night, I really question why I watch movies based on Nicholas Sparks' books. I know I'm going to cry but I just can't stop myself.

  6. Great list! After reading number 6, I wonder if we'll see a detective nurse in one of your future books...

  9. LOL, Dru--we want you to do that, too. :)

    Thanks, MC!

Kelley, I love it too. May be my favorite of the three.

LOLOL, Lisa. I've never seen one of the movies based on his books--and probably never will. I would be a blubbering mess.

You never know, Lisa, you never know. :)

Tonya, I think you've been busy enough this week!

Katie--not so sure about that. I have kids to put through college soon!
