The New Look, The Upcoming Road Trip, and The Reality Check

The New Look

This one's fairly obvious, no? I've been redecorating the blog. The major reason behind why (other than I like to do this from time to time) is that I wanted to combine my Heather Blake and Heather Webber blogs. It's too much to keep up both (as you may have noticed). So, Books By Heather blog is born. You can still get here through but you can also get here through too. Fancy, huh? I'll be tweaking the look, incorporating both my writing personalities as I go along, but look for posts at least once a week (I'm planning on Mondays, but we'll see how that goes).

The Upcoming Road Trip

I hit the road on Thursday morning, headed to Malice Domestic in Bethesda, Maryland. I'm really looking forward to the conference and catching up with friends. It's about a nine hour drive, barring traffic situations, monsoons, and Dr Pepper consumed (pit stops galore). I've making my list of what to pack--Gobstoppers (yes, I'm still on a Gobstopper kick), Dr P, and some books on tape. Anyone listen to anything good lately? I like funny or romantic in the car--nothing too dark.

The Reality Check

So, some of you know son #2 runs cross-country and track. Well, recently the local paper did a big article on him (proud mom moment). Well, fast forward a week or two. Son # 2 and I are at the pediatrician for his allergy shots and as I'm signing him in, I hear, "Can I have your autograph?" So, of course I think they're talking to me. Some of the nurses know I write. And I think, "That's sweet--they bought one of my books." Yeah. Well. You see where this is going. LOL. They were talking to son #2. The nurses wanted him to sign his article. His first autograph. Very cute. And a very good way to keep me from getting any kind of swelled head.

How's your week looking? It's wet, wet, wet here.

  1. Awww!! Ok, love the look. You sound as though you got the rode trip under control (lead Son#2 *BEAMING* So, more than one celebrity in your midst huh? LOL!! That must have been a reality check and 1/2. I know it would have been for me. LOL...I'm known as Allan's mom, Holly's mom or Brianna's mom. NONE of them know my name. Congrats to both of you!! YOU for raising such a superior athlete despite allergies and to Him for excelling so well under your care!! *smile*

  2. Thanks, April! Would love to take full credit for son #2's accomplishments, but he's done all the hard work. I did give him his widow's peak hairline, though. That counts for something, right? And LOL, I often introduce myself as my kids' mom. Easier that way.

Thanks, Linda! You'll have to make it there one of these years. (How about those Sox! Though the Bruins fans in the family are really getting excited.)

  3. Love the new look, very calming. Sounds like your road trip is going to be something else. I don't know if any of Anne George's books are available on audio, but I remember reading them and thinking that they were the funniest murder mysteries I'd ever read. Also Ann B. Ross has some funny books. Her protagonist, Miss Julia, is funny. Have a great time at Malice and be safe.

    Thoughts in Progress

  4. I love the new look.

I'm so glad you're going to be blogging again. I really did miss my visits with you.

Aaaw, what a moment for Son#2.

Today and tomorrow will be hectic as I have to clear things up (long story) at work before I can go on my vacation. The weather is supposed to be nice, I need to check the weather for where I'm going.

Again, welcome back to blogging and see you soon.

  5. That kid owes everything to his godfather.

  6. MC, I've been reading the Anne George's. So fun. I'm on Book 4. I'll see if the library has them--would love to listen to them.

Dru, can't wait to see you! Travel safe!

    Theo, you're not fooling anyone.

  7. When I was about 9 or 10 yrs old a production crew came to town to film a made for TV movie. I got to play an extra along with my parents. When I went to the dentist for a check up he asked me to sign the sheet of paper they put the tools on! It was so fun and I thought I was so cool! We got to do another movie a year later so we felt like stars for a while :)

  8. Breaunna, that's so cool! What a great memory.

  9. Heather, I'm so glad you're back to blogging once a week. I missed your posts! Love your autograph story!!

Have fun at the conference!! Hope lots of good things happen!
