So I had just fallen asleep last night when the sound of the phone ringing woke me up. I tossed off the covers, ran for the cordless (it's across the room), and wasn't very happy when it stopped ringing before I could reach it.
Then I looked at the Caller ID readout.
Nothing.
The phone hadn't rung.
Huh.
Turns out, the "ringing" I heard had been the dishwasher beeping the end of its cleaning cycle.
Yeah.
Lesson learned?
Run the dishwasher earlier in the evening. And maybe move the phone next to the bed.
Or let the answering machine screen all your calls, like we do!
ReplyDeleteI keep my cell phone on its charger right next to my bed and I often use the alarm clock feature on the phone. The other night I woke up to my phone beeping. It was 3:00 a.m. It wasn't the alarm, it was an empty text message from my grandson. Was it a crisis? Did he need me? I tried texting him back - no answer. I tried to set aside my concern and go back to sleep. Right. Like that's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteExplanation: He'd been texting his girlfriend before he went to sleep, fell asleep with the phone in his bed, and rolled over on it. It was the late night text version of what the kids refer to as a "butt call" (accidently calling someone by sitting on the button of their phone).
LOL, Stacy--I still look at the Caller ID. AND Baby Girl was at a sleepover last night, too, so I had to make sure it wasn't her. Nope. Just the silverware calling.
ReplyDeleteLinda! Not a bum dial! I can imagine your stress, though. Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.
You make me laugh...
