The Packing

**By the way, I'm giving away a copy of TROUBLE UNDER THE TREE today on my Facebook page --hop over and enter!**

I'm packing today to leave for Chicago. Packing always gives me fits (though I'd much rather pack than unpack, go figure).

Part of what I pack is determined on whether I want to wear heels or not. I have several pairs of nice (but long) pants. However, I'm not too graceful in heels. (As an aside: Is Funniest Home Videos still on air?)

Do I bring my own pillow?

Do I buy travel sizes or haul the big bottles of shampoo?

Such trivial matters, really, and I'm sure I'll figure it out. The important thing is getting to meet and hang out with fellow book lovers! It's my favorite part of these trips. Plus, I get to hang out with a great friend (Denise Swanson).

If you're in the Chicago area, we'd love to see you. Come on by! And if I'm in heels, try not to laugh at my gracelessness too much. :)

  1. Skip the heels - your feet will thank you. Grab the little bottles of shampoo from the hotel to take on your next trip. (If you don't like their brand, dump the contents and refill it with yours.

Why does one travel with their own pillow? I know people who do but it's never made sense to me.

    Have a fabulous trip.

  2. I agree...skip the heels! Hotel shampoo and conditioner makes my hair very sad. Have you ever thought about buying small empty bottles to fill with your own shampoo and conditioner? Easy to refill and this way you can use the products you like rather than be limited to whatever is available in travel size.

Your dinner and signing with Denise sounds like a blast. I am trying not to be jealous of all the lucky people that will be there. Trying...really trying...seriously trying, but it's so hard! We have lots of great restaurants and bookstores in the Seattle area... (hint hint)

    Have a great trip!

  3. I hope you are having a great time in Illinois. As for packing, I'm a last minute packer. It's mainly because the dog gets all sad faced when she sees the suitcases coming out, so I shorten the sadness for her and add to my stress by throwing everything in at the last minute. I always have to make a list, but even so, something usually gets left behind. :)
