The Eye-Opener

So, remember my resolution to get more organized? I might want to start with this:

The color's awful (dark kitchen!), but that's my recipe box. Yeah. Ugh. The lid is actually supposed to, you know, close. The task is so daunting, though, that I keep putting it off. Plus, I think I need a bigger box.

How do you keep your recipes organized?

  2. Just organized mine over the holidays !! Could not find anything that I needed in the box, so I just started copying everything on new recipe cards. It took me awhile, but at least I can find what I am looking for now!! Good Luck with that !!

  4. I like to put them in those clear sheets that have the slits in them (you know the ones??) and put them in a binder and just leave it on the counter!

  5. Michelle, I think that's what I'm going to have to do, too. Maybe if I do it a little at a time...

  6. LOL, Elaine. Some of us (ME!) need all the help I can get.

  8. My recipes are kept in 4x6 clear photo sleeves and then inside a photo album it fits 3 or 4 recipes per page. I then have it broken down by types of recipes, desserts, snacks, chicken, beef, pasta etc. It works really well for me although I have some loose papers that need to be filed away. Hope you find a way to organize that you like!

  9. You could scan them in and have them digitally. We use our laptop off to the side with our recipes. We get a lot of ours off the internet. This way you save the space and you can back them up.

  11. You're worried about closing the box? I just bought a second desk because I couldn't un-bury the first one. (Really!)

  12. Breaunna, I think that's the way I'm going to go. With either a binder or a photo album... I like the tab idea, too. :)

  13. Nikki, I thought about entering them on the computer (which seemed like way too much work!), but not about scanning them. That's a great idea. Hmm! Lots to think about!

  14. Dru, it's an option for me, too. Having a binder on the counter seems more handy, though. Decisions, decisions!

  16. Cookbooks. The main recipes that we use all the time are in my head but it's okay because I have modified them so much the recipe itself would be useless.

  17. I have a nice recipe book. Most of the recipes I never use are in it. The recipes I do use on occasion, are shoved someplace in the cupboard near the recipe book. I always have to search for them.

  18. Aimee, for some reason I only have a few cookbooks. But lots of individual recipes. Maybe because I have no room for the books! Tiny kitchen.
